Artisan Log Homes is currently looking for a family or individual who has always wanted a stunning custom built log home. This custom log house, which is currently under construction, offers over 2800 sq ft of living on the main and upper floor, plus an optional basement.  The footprint of the log shell is 54′ x 31′.
Walk through the 9’ entry doors into a massive 25’ vaulted area that incorporates log stairs which lead up to both wings of the house. The main floor is 1825 sq.ft with kitchen, dining, living room, stone fireplace, laundry, full bath and a large office.

Josh just returned from teaching log building in Estonia

3 years ago while attending the International Log Building Association AGM in Whitefish Montana, I was introduced to the Estonian Wood House Association.  They really admired and appreciated the way that Artisan designs and builds post and beam log homes.  This past September, I was asked to travel to Estonia and teach a 5 day course on post and beam construction and give a presentation on how we build our log houses to be air tight.

After pin pointing exactly where Estonia was in Europe, I was excited for this new adventure.  Following 20 hours of Travel I landed in the centrally located town of Tartu.  The following day, after a large breakfast of heavy bread and sliced meat, I was on my way to the log yard of Estonia’s largest log house company, Hobbiton.  I spent the day picking logs and collecting tools for the week ahead.  The next five days we’re very productive and rewarding.  I had a class of 14 local log builders and handymen, there English was very limited and my Estonian was non existent, I guess you can say we spoke using our tools and chainsaws!

After five days of handouts, demonstrations, lots of cutting and some good laughs we completed 2 small post and beam structures that will later be used as small garages or saunas (my favorite Estonian tradition).

The Estonians were a wonderful group of people, very hospitable and kind.  The food was amazing and the country side beautiful, I really look forward to returning to Eastern Europe, next time for a longer visit.
