EXPORT
We have access to some of the finest standing timber in North America. British Columbia is known throughout the world for its’ wealth of natural resources, and we are able to meet our highly specialized standards in locating and purchasing the house logs that we build with.
Export to the USA
Shipping from British Columbia to the U.S. is easy and inexpensive. We can handle all of the required paper work and documentation. We will also arrange shipping and the crane required for re-erection. Duty is minimal, about 3.5%. Our log yard is only 1/2 hour north of the border at Sumas, Washington.
Artisan recommends having 2 of our log builders arrive with the shell, supervise re-erection and over-see the beginning of lock-up. This will ensure that this critical process is completed with accuracy and efficiency.
Exporting to Europe
Having your new handcrafted log home shipped from our log yard in Mission, B.C to your site overseas is not a problem! For customers belonging to the European Union, we are required to work closely with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency in regards to the species of wood we can use to build your log home. In the EU countries, Western Red Cedar is the only non kiln dried species of wood we are allowed to use. To use another species of wood like Engleman spruce or Lodgepole Pine, these must be sent out for kiln drying. All logs are also required to be sprayed with an antifungicide spray before shipping. We fortunately have access to beautiful Western Red Cedar logs and can have another species, if you so desire kiln dried for your project.
Exporting to Asia
Artisan has sent over 50 complete log shells to Japan in the past 15 years. Whether your log house is located high up in the mountains or down in a lush rain forest, we can help you pick the appropriate timber and design what will ensure your log house will be enjoyed for generations to come.
Log buildings are amazingly cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Artisan built a log home for the Sanford family, near Santa Fe, Texas. The summer heat of ’98 reached record highs, but the Sanfords were delighted that their new home remained cool and comfortable. As well, it’s mass and weight combined with the interlocking structure of the log work, make it highly resistant to the devastating hericanes that frequent this area.
